Free Pirate Crafts for Preschoolers

We are setting sail with some of our Pirate Crafts today. Your little artists will have fun using their imagination to turn into pirates. Let’s shove off mates and let the adventures begin.

In our first craft, we are learning how to paint. Your little artist can design and make their own pirate hat. In our project, we used black paint. But, maybe your little artists would like pink or blue. Maybe let them decide? When the project is dry you may cut it out and wear it. Click the image below for the printable pattern.

What are pirates always on the hunt for? Why gold of course. I don’t know about your little artists ours love to make paper chains. (Miles of them.) In this next craft, you may use gold foil or glitter paper to make gold chains to wear. Maybe your little artists will make more than one. Or, enough to bury you with.

Now that your little artists look like a pirate maybe they should travel like one. We are designing our own pirate ships to set sail on. To add a little bit more imagination to this project ask your artists to name their ship. When completed ask them, ‘where is the first place you are sailing to?’ The answers might surprise you. Click the link to find out how we made this actual rocking ship.

Another fun project is to make a simple three-step map and have the children use it to find the buried treasure. The treasure could be anything you choose. Simple ideas are a picnic location or plastic pirate coins.

We hope your little artists had fun becoming and learning about pirates today. Maybe they learned to talk like a pirate. Set sail like one or just like making crafts. I know you will be sure to tell your little buccaneer, ‘You’re so creative!’
