Talk Like a Pirate Day. Or, just learn about them….

Ahoy, Buccaneer! Did you know September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day? Your little Matey is sure to have fun learning how to talk like a pirate and making pirate-themed craft projects. So let’s not be a ‘Landlubber’ and start having fun.

RRRRRRRR- Are you ready to make your first pirate-themed crafts? Our first craft project is what is called a “Black Jack,” as the pirates say. Or as we say it, a pirate flag.

Your little artists can refine their small motor skills by sponge painting their own flags in this project.

Pirate Flag Craft Project:

Supplies:

  1. Copy of flag
  2. Black paint
  3. Sponges

Directions:

  1. Print a copy of flag.
  2. Use sponges to pant flag.

Yo ho, yo ho! A crafting life for me. We rrrrr-are off to make craft number two, our very own pirate. Your little artist is sure to have fun giving this pirate a beard.

Pirate Craft Project:

Pirate

Supplies:

  1. Copy of pirate
  2. Black yarn cut into 2” pieces
  3. Glue
  4. Crayons or Markers
  5. Scissors

Directions:

  1. Cut yarn into 2-3″ pieces
  2. Have the children color their pirates.
  3. Teach them how to glue the yarn to give the pirate a beard.

Heave ho! We are shoving off to set sail on our third and final fun Pirate Day themed craft. So let’s hoist the anchor, or maybe just make one? Simply use glitter glue and cotton swabs to paint the anchor.

Anchor Craft Project:

Supplies:

  1. Copy of anchor
  2. Glitter glue
  3. Cotton swab

Directions:

  1. Print copy of anchor.
  2. Squeeze small amount of glitter glue onto anchor. Use cotton swab to spread over anchor.
