Decorating for December

I am sure you are busy decorating for December as well as being involved in the many other activities occurring at this time of year. Why not get your little artist involved in making some of the decorations? These December-themed craft projects are sure to add some fun to any holiday party.

In our first Decorating for December craft project, we will be making a wreath for your front door. With a little prep work your little artists can make their own wreaths.

Holly Wreath

Supplies:

  1. Paper plate
  2. Green paper
  3. Red paper
  4. Glue
  5. Scissors

Directions:

This project requires prep work.

  1. Print holly leaves onto green paper and cut out.
  2. Cut small, quarter-sized circles out of red paper.
  3. Cut the center circle out of the paper.

Children’s directions:

  1. Glue leaves around paper plate ring.
  2. Glue on red dots.

We are big fans of poinsettia flowers, but we have animals and cannot have real plants in the house. So we made our own!

Poinsettia Craft Project

Supplies:

  1. Flower pattern
  2. Construction paper
  3. Glue stick
  4. Scissors
  5. Hole punch

Directions:

  1. Cut 8 flower petals out of red paper. (Small piece)
  2. Cut 2 leaves out of green paper. (Large piece)
  3. Use glue stick to glue leaves and then red petals.
  4. Use hole punch on yellow paper.
  5. Glue dots onto flower.

My favorite part of Christmas has to be all the beautiful Christmas lights. I love seeing people decorate their yards and homes. Your little artists can make their own Christmas lights in this next project. No electricity needed!

Christmas Lights

Supplies:

  1. Construction paper
  2. Scissors
  3. Pencil
  4. Glue stick
  5. Paper plate

Directions:

  1. Cut Christmas light shapes out of different colors of paper.
  2. Cut paper plate into spiral.
  3. Glue lights onto paper plate.
  4. Hang when dry.
