Free African Safari Animal Crafts for Ages Three and Up

African Safari Animal Crafts

We are having fun using African safari animal crafts to learn about some amazing animals. Today we continue traveling around the world through our many craft projects. Maybe your little one recognizes today’s animals from the zoo or maybe you call them your neighbors. Either way, your artist will have fun learning with these projects.

We are having fun with the fastest land animal in our first project. This Cheetah craft is perfect for refining small motor skills while getting children ready to write. We use a pencil in a unique way to design this project. Click the image to find out how.

Your little artist is sure to have fun pretending to be an antelope. While your artists are busy making their own headbands you can share a few fun facts. The antelope can jump ten feet high and thirty-three feet forward. It is fun to hold a jumping contest with your students wearing this craft. Then I show them how far an actual antelope can jump. It is sure to be a lesson they will remember forever. Click the link to print and play.

In this craft project your little artists will learn a thing or maybe two about African elephants. This mammal has the largest ears on the planet. They use these giant ears to keep cool on the hot Savanah. Like giant fans. It is fun to ask students, ‘Do you think you’d look silly if your ears were as big as your head?’

Next, we are making crafts to learn about the world’s tallest animal, the giraffe. Averaging over 16 feet tall. Sometimes I have students measure out how tall giraffes really are. In this project, we make a headband and add some ears and ossicones. Ossicones are the parts of the giraffes that look like horns but they are actually made of cartilage that hardened into bone. We will let you in on a secret we actually used printed paper in this project. Click the image below to make this project.

Your little artists might recognize this next craft as Pumba. Children love making this craft and pretending they are a wort hog. This beloved charter is always a favorite. Click the link for the free pattern to turn a simple paper plate into this mask.
