Free Picnic Crafts for ages three and up

Picnic Crafts

July is National picnic month in the United States and what a perfect month to grab a picnic and eat outside. Or maybe even just to make some picnic themed crafts. In today’s newsletter, we are sharing some fun crafts about items you may see at a picnic. Let’s get started.

It wouldn’t be a picnic without food. In our first craft, we let our little artist’s imagination run wild. We let them plan the menu by cutting out pictures of items they would like to eat at their own picnic. We gathered our local grocery store flyers and mailers to recycle in this project. You will be surprised by what they choose to take. Click the image below to make your own menu board.

We seem to grill for our picnics. In our next project, we are having little artists make and add toppings to their own hot dogs. You may use different color yarns for ketchup and mustard. Or what about bits of white paper for onions and bits of green for relish? Click the image below to make and top your own hot dogs.

When I was a little girl we would have teddy bear picnics. We would pack a big lunch with my favorite teddy bear. Head outside and unfold a large blanket and spend the afternoon relaxing. But we couldn’t call it a picnic until we saw….an ant. Then my mother would laugh and say, ‘ It is now an official picnic.’ So in today’s last project, we are making it official with this ant craft project. Click the image below to make your own ant.

We hope you take the time this summer to have a picnic or two with your little artist. The perfect waterproof blanket can make all the difference too. Here is one that we love to roll up and keep in the car. Just in case we decide to stop and relax. The best part is that it is machine washable.
