Free Scarecrow Crafts for Children

Scarecrow Crafts

Did you know the first Sunday in July is National Build a Scarecrow Day? It does make sense. This time of year all the crops need to be protected. But for some reason, I always think of scarecrows as an Autumn craft. But in today’s newsletter we are sharing our three scarecrow crafts that you can make today.

In our first scarecrow craft, we are engineering our own two and a half foot tall scarecrow. For the littlest artist, I will pre-cut and punch the pieces and let them assemble them. I let the children decide where each piece goes and it is a lot of fun. For older children I allow them to cut out and assemble on their own. Click the image below to print and make your own.

In our next craft, we have little artists refine small motor skills by using safety scissors to cut raffia. They can then glue the strands and bits to give the scarecrow its hair. Click the image below to style your own scarecrow.

In today’s final craft we are using our engineering skills once again. This time we are making our own scarecrow bags. Last year I made these for an Autumn party and they were a huge hit. When I have a small artist I will pre-assemble the bag and have them glue on the straw and clothespins. For the next age up, I might pre-cut and fold the bag but not glue it. Then have the children assemble and glue the bag together. However, you choose to make these will be perfect. Click the image below to find out more.

Maybe you and your little artist would like to make a real scarecrow? One year we had parents donate toddler sized clothes and stuffed them with real straw. The kids had so much fun. Maybe you do not live in an area with straw? Do you believe Amazon will deliver straw? Click the image below to have it shipped right to your door.

We hope you had fun with our scarecrow crafts today. Maybe you made one or two? I know whatever your little artists dose you are sure to say, ‘You’re so creative!’
